Belgrade, December 13, 2012

The U.S. Embassy in Belgrade is pleased to again support Radio Television Serbia's live broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera on Radio Belgrade.

Launched in 1931, the Metropolitan Opera's Saturday matinée broadcasts are the longest-running continuous classical program in radio history. Radio Belgrade 2 and 3 will give Serbians, like art lovers around the world, the opportunity to enjoy live broadcasts of 21 different operas composed by Verdi, Mozart, Wagner, Puccini, Rossini, Handel, Berlioz, and others, and performed by renowned artists including Željko Lučić, Joyce DiDonato, Natalie Dessay, Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann, Olga Borodina, Roberto Alagna, Juan Diego Flórez, Sondra Radvanovsky, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, and Simon Keenlyside.

By supporting this project, U.S. Embassy wishes to share with the citizens of Serbia the rich musical performances of one America's most important cultural institutions.
