Rules

To highlight Martin Luther King’s Jr. Legacy, the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Astana is pleased to announce an on-line contest. This contest offers the young students of Kazakhstan the opportunity to learn about and expand their understanding of Civil Rights in the United States through learning and engagement activities.

Eligibility
 
Participant must be 17 and under to enter the contest. 

Contestants must be citizens of Kazakhstan residing in Kazakhstan. 

This contest is an educational quiz on Civil rights in the United States, and participants will be asked to complete web-based questions. The assignments must be submitted in English. The answers submitted must contain the contestant’s own ideas; no plagiarism is permitted.  Copying and pasting from Google searches and Wikipedia and other websites will not be accepted.   Participants are encouraged to use American Spaces and American Corners Resources.

American Spaces and American Corners in Kazakhstan

Contestants are welcome to visit any of our eleven American Corners located across the country and to browse through our collection, including books, periodicals and databases.  Should a participant have any questions regarding American Corner’s availability, he/she can email at ircastana@usembassy.kz .

Deadline

The contest starts on February 11, 2013 and will end on February 15, 2013. The deadline for submitting entries is by 23:55 (Astana time), February 15, 2013.

Awards and Evaluation and Prizes

Only entries submitted via this link will be considered.  All questions must be answered to be eligible for the prize.  The entries will be considered as entered when all given assignments are completed. Answers posted on Facebook and Twitter will not be accepted. The entries will be evaluated by a panel of independent experts, four winners will be selected. The experts’ decision is final. All winners must have completed the form and successfully answered the question.  Each winner will receive an iPod shuffle.

All answers are subject to verbal confirmation, either in person or telephonically.

Only successful winners will be notified.  Previous winners can enter the contest but not win a prize. 

Steps to join the contest

There will be a total of six questions each contestant must complete.  The questions will be available Monday through Friday.  Participant should give an answer to all questions starting from page 1 to page 2.  Complete personal information on page 3.
