Pending - Administrative Processing: 221(g)

Nonimmigrant visa applicants can easily check the status of their pending visa application after attending a visa interview and submitting all the required documents.

Pending Non-immigration visa application? Check the status of your visa online with the U.S. Department of state's new system! CEAC status check is now live at https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/. Use your CEAC barcode or case number and the location where your interview occured to check the status of your case. Click on "Check My Visa Application Status."

The Consulate General cannot provide additional details on your case status. This processing is mandatory, and cannot be expedited. We will print your visa and return your passport as soon as the processing is finished. We cannot predict how long this process will take as it varies based on the individual circumstances of each case. 

Please note: The Consulate General cannot process your application until you have provided all of the requested documentation. 

Documents or Passport Submission

If your application has been refused under section 221(g) of the INA and you are requested to submit additional documents or your passport please log in to www.ustraveldocs.com/in download the 221(g) courier submission letter and submit it with the required documents either at one of the 5 OFC or 6 VFS office.  To locate the 5 OFC and 6 VFS office closest to you, please check www.ustraveldocs.com/in. There will be no fee charged for this service. No visa shall be issued unless an application is complete.

Visa Refusal:  214(b)

If your visa was refused 214(b), it means your application has been denied. This decision cannot be appealed. However, you may reapply by following the visa application process you used for the first application. Your must again pay fees and make an appointment.  A different officer will hear your case. Please review the information on the refusal letter you received at the time of your interview.
