Passport application forms, information about fees and passport photographs are available at the Department of State website.

Payment is accepted in cash (Euros or US$) and credit card (no checks/money order).

Passports are no longer produced overseas, but at a central processing location in the United States.  Please allow at least 7 -10 days after application is approved before the passport will be ready to pick up at the Embassy to avoid unnecessary complications in your travel plans.

DoD ID Card Holders

The U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg is not authorized to accept applications for passports or consular reports of birth abroad from USEUCOM personnel, including:
• Military personnel and their family members
• U.S. civilian employees and their family members
• Card holders with Full-Benefits (MWR, Commissary, Unlimited Exchange, etc.)
According to the following regulations:
• USAFE Instruction 36-3101
• USAREUR Regulation 600-290
• DoD Regulation 1000.21-R
All Department of Defense-affiliated personnel must apply for passports and reports of birth through their local Passport Agents.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Effective April 22, 2010 the Embassy asks that American citizens coming to the Embassy for passport or birth registration services kindly fill in the appropriate forms in advance.

Given the space constraints in our Embassy waiting room, we are unable to have more than five individuals in the room at one time.  Prolonged time in the waiting room filling out forms causes other prepared individuals to have to wait outside, sometimes in inclement or uncomfortable weather.  We hope it is not too much of an inconvenience to ask our citizens to fill out these forms – which are readily available on the Department of State website beforehand.  Individuals who arrive without the forms filled out may be asked to wait outside to complete the forms, particularly if there are other individuals who have already completed their forms waiting for service.
