Messages for U.S. Citizens
U.S. Embassy - Kuwait periodically issues messages of interest and importance to the U.S. citizen population living in Kuwait.
The three types of messages you will receive from the Embassy are Emergency Messages, Demonstration Notices, and Messages to U.S. citizens. In addition, we publish information from the Department of State as it relates to regional and worldwide travel conditions, as well as issues specific to Kuwait.
The quickest way to receive these messages is through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), in which we encourage all U.S. citizens living, working, and/or traveling in Kuwait to enroll.
STEP is a free service provided by the U.S. Government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country. STEP allows you to enter information about your upcoming (or current) trip or residence abroad so that the Department of State can better assist you in an emergency. STEP also allows Americans residing abroad to get routine information from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

Demonstration Notices are intended to alert U.S. citizens to a probably demonstration taking place at a fixed time and location. The information is provided so that you can take appropriate action to ensure your own safety and security. - Messages to U.S. citizens
We periodically issue routine messages to our U.S. citizen population that provide important information, including upcoming events, voting news, changes in business hours, and the consular newsletter. - Travel Alerts
Travel Alerts are issued to disseminate information about short-term conditions that pose significant risks to the security of U.S. citizens. - Country Specific Information
The Department of State provides information like the location of the U.S. embassy; whether you need a visa; crime and security information; health and medical conditions; drug penalties; and localized hot spots. - Travel Warnings
Travel Warnings are issued when long-term, protracted conditions that make a country dangerous or unstable lead the Department of State to recommend that Americans avoid or consider the risk of travel to that country. A Travel Warning is also issued when the U.S. Government's ability to assist American citizens is constrained due to the closure of an embassy or consulate or because of a drawdown of its staff. - Worldwide Caution
The Department of State has issued a Worldwide Caution to update information on the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against U.S. citizens and interests throughout the world. U.S. citizens are reminded to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness.
