USAID, Ministry of National Defense Conduct Stakeholder Meeting on Environmental Remediation Project at Danang Airport

DANANG, January 23, 2013 -- Today, representatives from the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) continued the series of stakeholder meetings to discuss progress in implementing the Environmental Remediation of Dioxin at Danang Airport project.

USAID-supported Training Promotes Farm Biosecurity and Strengthens Animal Health Network in Mekong Region

AN GIANG, January 11, 2013 -- Officials from 13 Mekong Delta provinces met today to learn from the experiences of An Giang and Can Tho provinces in adopting farm biosecurity training practices to enable local poultry farmers to produce safer poultry products and to better protect their families' health from deadly diseases passing between animals and humans. This training package is a jointly developed product of Vietnam's National Agriculture Extension Center (NAEC) and the U.S. Agency for International Development's Avian and Pandemic Influenza Initiative (USAID/APII).

Female Technical Vocational Students Receive Scholarships

HO CHI MINH CITY, January 11, 2013 -- Today, USAID's partner in the Higher Engineering Education Alliance Program with Arizona State University (ASU), Intel Products Vietnam, awarded the first 109 scholarships for female students in 13 technical vocational schools. The three-year scholarship program component ending in 2014 is valued at 2.4 billion dong (over $111,000) and is funded by Intel.

HANOI, January 10, 2013 -- More than 80 Vietnamese and foreign participants took part in a two-day training session under the auspices of the Enhancing Capacity for Low Emission Development Strategies (EC-LEDS) initiative supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Vietnamese counterpart agencies and organizations participated in this event focusing on the development and use of renewable energy resource data for planning and project development.

Powering Agriculture: Energy Grand Challenge for Development Offers Awards of up to $1.5 million

HANOI, January 7, 2013 - Organizations that can offer market-based, clean energy solutions for agriculture can win development awards ranging from $300,000 to $1.5 million in a new campaign launched by USAID, the Government of Sweden and Duke Energy.
