A Message From Ambassador E. Anthony Wayne

  • Ambassador E. Anthony Wayne

“The United States and Mexico trade over $1.25 billion in goods and services each day, a number we expect to grow as we help more U.S. companies succeed in Mexico.  This remarkable level of trade is made possible by the companies in each country that have found fertile markets and productive opportunities for doing business together.  Our economies are linked, not only by integrated supply chains and cross-border partnerships, but also by the over twenty million tourists who travel between the United States and Mexico every year.

The North American Free Trade Agreement opens many markets to interested U.S. companies.  U.S. businesses that seek to export from Mexico enjoy not only the benefits of NAFTA, but also the advantages of Mexico’s extensive network of additional trade agreements, which ease access to over 40 additional markets, including the European Union and Japan.  For these reasons, many U.S. firms have discovered that doing business in Mexico opens many opportunities in the world of exports and international business.

[At the U.S. Embassy in Mexico] We have a dynamic commercial team that draws on every section of the Mission and includes personnel from the Departments of State, Commerce, Agriculture, Homeland Security, Food and Drug Administration, and others who can answer questions and assist your efforts.  Our services range from finding distributors and local representatives in Mexico to matchmaking, market research, due diligence, and much, much more.  We enthusiastically welcome the opportunity to advocate for U.S. companies and help resolve market entry, investment, and other issues that you might encounter.  Please explore the business section of our website to find out how to benefit from our services and take advantage of our wealth of experience working within the local market.  We are here to serve you.”
