USAID/India is creating a strong public and private sector healthcare system by building local capacity, improving private sector engagement in service delivery, and increasing healthy behaviors.

USAID's Health program in India aims to:

  • Build in-country capacity for family planning and reproductive health;
  • Support comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care programs;
  • Strengthen maternal and child health systems;
  • Improve nutrition services for children;
  • Improve treatment for tuberculosis patients and strengthen tuberculosis policies; and
  • Increase access to clean water and sanitation facilities.
