Students Tour American Collection
11 January 2013
In connection with the art exhibition Once Upon a Time… Impressionism: Great French Paintings from the Clark, currently hosted by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Consulate invited a class from the Pierre-Dupuy school to a guided tour to discover the paintings from the Clark Institute. The group of about 30 students was split into 2 teams, each with its own guide. For approximately 90 minutes, students had a chance to learn the story behind famous paintings and discover masterpieces from the impressionist era. The students were then invited to a workshop in the new Studios Art & Éducation Michel de la Chenelière and were provided tools to make their own drawings. Overall the activity lasted two hours and gave the group of children and their accompanying educators a unique opportunity and a wonderful and rich learning experience.
This exhibition is the result of collaboration between the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
