Consul Scott L. Whitmore

Scott L. Whitmore joined the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Service Officer in 2004. Prior to arriving in Halifax Scott was the Cultural Affairs Officer in Sao Paulo, Brazil working on education and exchanges. Prior to that he was Vice Consul in Baku, Azerbaijan. His first tour overseas was in Tbilisi, Georgia in the management section.

Mr. Whitmore received a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Russian language from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and is a native of Massachusetts who now resides in New Hampshire. Prior to joining the State Department, he worked in Moscow, Russia in the early 90’s doing real estate development and was a high school business and Russian language teacher for five years in a high school outside Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Whitmore speaks Russian, Portuguese and Georgian.

He is joined in Halifax by his wife, Hazira, and two sons and will complete his three year tour of duty as Consul in July 2015.
