Immigrant Visas

Introduction

Persons wishing to reside permanently in the United States will need an immigrant visa. The most common categories of Immigrant Visas are:

  • Immediate Relatives
  • Family-based (certain relatives of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents)
  • Employment-based
  • Diversity Visas for winners of the DV lottery

Due to security requirements and staffing limitations, only those with appointments or with specific business, such as reporting a lost green card, will be admitted to the Consular Section. We are not able to accept in person requests for visa-related information. If you require visa information, please check our website.

Please visit our FAQ Page for answers to your most frequently asked questions.  If you need additional assistance after reading all the information available on this website and its links, please email us at BridgetownIV@state.gov.  The Immigrant Visa Section can also be contacted by phone at (246) 227-4110, Monday through Friday between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., excluding U.S. or Barbadian holidays.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

  • Diversity Visa Scammers Sending Fraudulent Emails and Letters

The Department of State, Office of Visa Services, advises the public of a notable increase in fraudulent emails and letters sent to Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) program (Visa Lottery) applicants. The scammers behind these fraudulent emails and letters are posing as the U.S. government in an attempt to extract payment from DV applicants. Review the procedures for the DV program provided at the Department of State website on the DV Program, so that you know what to expect, when to expect it, and from whom.
