Want to take a girlfriend or boyfriend to a cheap joint that’s walking distance from the barracks? Catch a Mighty Dogs hockey game. The Mighty Dogs play in the “Oberliga Süd,” which is Germany’s third highest league after 1st Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga. This is minor league hockey at its best. They play other German teams. Adult tickets range from €10 – 16. What’s more, the team typically sports a few American Soldiers. Home games are played at the Icedome—that big blue building about 300 yards west of the Yorktown main gate. Icedome Schweinfurt |

Three museums on the single Soldier page?!?! Yep, that’s the intent. All of the places on this list are a lot of fun and this is no exception. Specializing in 19th century German artwork, this museum’s collections do a great job capturing the mindset of the time. If you enjoy history, or just want to see some cool artwork, this is a must see! Museum Georg Schäfer |

This is the city’s premier indie concert venue. It was once the city’s old south train station. Converted in the ‘90s, this place has housed some pretty big names like Yellowcard, Set Your Goals, The Fallen, At Dawn We Rage, and The Cancer Bats just to name a few. The concerts are inexpensive, the venue is small, and the crowd is good. What more can you ask for? The Stattbahnhof |
