2/6/2013 - PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- One down, 14 to go!

Let's take a moment to echo General Cotton's words last week and say "thanks" to all Team Patrick-Cape members for making the first of 15 launches in 2013 from the Eastern Range a resounding success.

Our joint effort in support of NASA's Tracking and Data Relay Satellites was a great way to kick off the New Year. We look forward to a very busy and fulfilling year doing what we do best -- launching rockets!

Another key to our continued mission success is operations security, particularly when it comes to our e-mail and Internet-based capabilities, both at work and in our homes.

Operations security is not a job, or an additional duty -- it is a way of life in today's world and won't be going away anytime soon.

Technology is changing faster than the vast majority of us can keep pace with, and our adversaries are watching what we e-mail, what we blog, and what we post on social media sites.

In almost every instance the safe use of your computer, your e-mails and your social media interaction is fundamentally a behavior issue as opposed to a technical one. In other words, this is about personal responsibility.

Remember, OPSEC begins with YOU!

If you have any questions concerns, questions or ideas to improve our OPSEC program, please contact our OPSEC program manager, Ms. Jennifer Macklin, at 494-5574.

In closing, please join me in congratulating each one of the following individuals for their outstanding contributions and dedicated teamwork: Maj. Denise M. Lennon, 1st Lt. Christa Kasdorf, Senior Master Sgt. Terry Wooldridge, Master Sgt. Kenneth Rommelfanger, Master Sgt. Scott Johnson, Tech. Sgt. Matthew Kerwin, Tech. Sgt. John Quinley, Staff Sgt. Jessica May, Mr. Harry Velez, Mrs. Dominica Langley, Mrs. Sharon Young and the 45th Med Group Patient Safety Program. These Sharks were recently honored by the Air Force Medical Service and Air Force Space Command for their outstanding accomplishments throughout 2012.
Well done, Sharks!!
