2/6/2013 - PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Military Officers Association of America, Cape Canaveral Chapter (MOAACC) is a non-profit service organization comprised of over 1400 active duty, retired and former officers of the U.S. Uniformed Services.

Since 1984 the Cape Canaveral Chapter has awarded 193 scholarship grants totaling $480,500 to deserving applicants. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be descendants or wards of officers or enlisted personnel on active duty, or Guard and Reserves in paid drill status; or be descendants or wards of retired military personnel whether living or deceased. Applicants must also have attained junior standing at an accredited college or university; be enrolled full time in an undergraduate or first year graduate program of study; and be a legal resident of Brevard County or be a descendant or ward of a member of the Chapter.

The Chapter is seeking eligible applicants for a limited number of additional scholarship grants to be awarded in July 2013. Applications may be submitted via the Chapter's website "www.moaacc.org". Click on the Scholarships tab for eligibility criteria, procedures and application forms required for submission to the Scholarship Selection Committee. All application data with supporting documentation must be received not later than June 15.

Recipients are selected based upon merit using the whole person concept.
Factors considered, among others, include:
1) Scholastic achievement;
2) Demonstration of outstanding citizenship, moral character, attitude and leadership attributes; and
3) Efficient use of time as measured by job or work experience, volunteerism and extracurricular activities.
