Passport, Birth Registration and Notarial Services Appointment System (12/14/2011)

The U.S. Embassy Consular Section would like to bring to your attention to upcoming changes in our passport, birth registration and notarial services.

From January 1, 2012, U.S. citizens will be required to make an online appointment in order to submit passport or consular report of birth abroad applications at the Embassy. Each family member seeking a service related to passports or birth registration will need a separate appointment. Individuals requesting notarial services will also need to make online appointments. This new appointment system is intended to improve customer service and efficiency. We encourage feedback from U.S. citizens on the new system in the coming months.

Appointments for submitting U.S. passports and consular reports of birth applications can be made by following this link.

Appointments for notarial services can be made by following this link.

Both links appear under U.S. Citizen Services on the Embassy's Internet website. All other consular services offered at the Consular Section remain unchanged.

As always, the U.S. Embassy Consular Section is available for U.S. citizens who require assistance or who require information on resources in Angola.  To contact the Consular Section, call 222-641-000 or send an email to consularluanda@state.gov. To contact the Embassy in an emergency or after-hours telephone call (244) 923-404-209 or (244) 923- 640-154.

U.S. citizens living in or traveling to Angola are encouraged to register their presence with the U.S. Embassy's Consular Section through the State Department's travel registration website, and to review also the Embassy's Internet website for the latest travel and security information within Angola.  U.S. citizens without Internet access may register directly at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.  Registration will permit the Consular Section to contact registered individuals in case of an emergency.

U.S. citizens traveling abroad should regularly monitor the U.S. Embassy's website and the U.S. Department of State's, Bureau of Consular Affairs website where the current Worldwide Caution, Travel Warnings, Travel Alerts, and Country Specific Information can be found.  The U.S. Embassy also encourages U.S. citizens to review "A Safe Trip Abroad", which includes valuable security information for those both living and traveling abroad.  In addition to information on the Internet, travelers may obtain up-to-date information on security conditions by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the U.S. and Canada, or outside the U.S. and Canada on a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444.
