The JFTC Deputy Commander

bg buszkaBrigadier General Buszka was born on 11 December 1958 in Psary, Poland. He assumed his duties as the Deputy Commander of the Joint Force Training Centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on 07 July 2011.

Brigadier General Buszka graduated from the Armoured Officers School in Poznan in 1981. He also studied Country Defence and Defence Policy in National Defence University in Warsaw and Management in the Białystok University of Technology. Furthermore, he attended a Staff Officer Course in the Officer Development Centre in Warsaw, a training in the Military Armoured Forces Academy in Moscow and a Tactical and Operational Course in National Defence University in Warsaw.

Brigadier General Buszka started his military career in Morąg, where he was a platoon leader between 1981 and 1984 and between 1984 and 1986 a company commander in the 37 th Mechanized Regiment. In 1986 he became a staff officer in the 15 th Mechanized Division in Olsztyn. From 1990 till 1995 Brigadier General Buszka served in the 50 th Reserve Infantry Regiment in Lidzbark Warmiński, first as a chief of staff and then as the regiment commander. In 1995 he returned to the 15 th Mechanized Division, where he assumed duties of a G-3 branch chief.

In 1996 Brigadier General Buszka became the Commander of the 18 th Mechanized Brigade in Białystok and in 2000 he was assigned to lead the 1 st Armoured Brigade in Wesoła. Between 2002 and 2004 he was the chief of a training unit in the Military Education Department in Warsaw. In 2005 Brigadier General Buszka moved to Bartoszyce, where he served as the 20 th Mechanized Brigade Commander and after two years of service he was appointed the Deputy Commander of the 16 th Mechanized Division in Elbląg. Between 2009 and 2011 he served in Eurocorps HQ in Strasbourg, France, as the deputy chief of support.

Brigadier General Buszka gained international military experience in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2004 he was deployed to Iraq, where he became a staff officer in the Coalition Military Assistant Training Team (CMATT) and in 2006 he assumed the position of the Brigade Combat Team Commander in Multinational Central South Division. In 2008 he began his service in Afghanistan as the Polish Military Contingent Commander (Task Force White Eagle Commander).

During his military service Brigadier General Buszka has been awarded with numerous medals, such as l'Ordre National de la Legion d'Honneur (France), the Merit Gold Cross, the Gold Medal for Country Defense, the Gold Medal for Defense Service, Commandeur de l'Ordre de la Couronne (Belgium), Ehrenkreuz der Bundeswehr (Germany), the Army Commendation Medal (USA), the Bronze Star Medal (USA) and Medalla De Oro Por Servicios Distinguidos (Salvador).

Brigadier General Buszka's hobbies are hiking, bicycle trips and history.

Brigadier General Buszka is married to Grażyna and has a daughter Dominika.
