Map of BENIN

Moringa is a plant that has high nutritional value and can help fight malnutrition. In a country where starch composes the vast majority of diets, many people struggle to get adequate vitamin intake, despite adequate calorie consumption. This is especially a problem for the poorest members of society who find the most affordable foods to be cassava and corn derivatives.

This project will help local producers of moringa powder, which is easily transportable, can be stored for at least a year, and can be mixed into cooked food to add a variety of vitamins, protein and minerals.

A mill will help one producer lower costs while increasing the quality of the powder, while new packaging and certification will help another be the first producer to gain the ability to sell the powder in pharmacies.

This project will increase profits for small businesses in Benin and help some of the poorest children in the world have a balanced diet.
