Peg Folta is the CAR division leader for the Biology, Atmosphere, Chemistry, and Earth Division (BACE) Division. She is responsible for managing the 80+ scientists and technicians of CAR who partner with the associated programs and organizations to develop computer applications solutions. Peg joined LLNL in 1988. She received her MS in Applied Mathematics from the University of Missouri. Peg spent her first eight years working with the Atomic Vapor Laser Isoptope Separation (AVLIS) Program. She lead several groups in the development of real-time user interface and data manage control systems, then became part of the systems engineering team that developed the AVLIS Commerical Control System Architecture. Since then she has worked in the Biology and Biotechnology Research Program, where she has lead several bioinformatics efforts with the Joint Genome Institute and the Integrated Molecular Analysis of Genomes and their Expression Consortium.
