Community Service Program
CSOSA's Community Service Program is committed to helping restore communities and prevent crime. In partnership with community agencies and representatives, CSOSA develops activities through which offenders can fulfill their court-ordered community service obligations in ways that benefit District of Columbia residents and neighborhoods.
CSOSA's Community Service Program refers offenders with court-ordered community service requirements to non-profit organizations that provide a wide range of services. CSOSA also enters into agreements with non-profit organizations and civic groups to host one-time events intended to achieve community improvements, such as cleaning up and installing playground equipment in a park. The Community Service Program seeks to encourage a sense of investment in the community on the part of offenders while at the same time strengthening the community’s commitment to embracing all of its citizens.
To determine if your organization or event could benefit from the assistance of men and women working to meet their legal obligations, please contact the Office of Community Justice Programs at (202) 220-5320 and ask to speak to a Community Relations Specialist. He or she will discuss the guidelines for establishing a partnership that define the purpose and types of services offenders would perform.
