Educational public workshops lead by Ray Archuleta, Conservation Agronomist from the East Region Technology Center in Greensboro, North Carolina - The NRCS National expert on Soil Quality.

The national soil quality expert, Ray Archuleta, visited Vermont this October to teach producers, aspiring farmers, and NRCS's own employees the power of soil quality and ways to improve soil health and productivity of agricultural land. The workshops included some of the following topics:

  • Soil Quality Basics

  • Soil Biology

  • Management

  • Cover Crop Case Studies (field visit and exercise)

Demonstrations, such as the Soil Stability Test and the Soil Infiltration Test proved valuable to all. View these tests performed on video by Ray Artchuleta on the NRCS national website by clicking on the title links above.
