About

These modules were created by DoDEA's Educational Partnership Program. The Program provides information and support to increase understanding of the unique needs of military-connected children as well as academic support to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for military-connected children.

DoDEA's Educational Partnership Program works collaboratively with the U.S. Department of Education in efforts to ease the transition of military-connected children and by providing resources to local education agencies that serve military-connected children.

Through a variety of programs and partnership development the Educational Partnership promotes quality education, seamless transitions, and deployment support.

These learning modules are designed to support School Liaisons in carrying out this important mission by providing the information, tools, and resources needed to work effectively with families, schools, and communities to ensure the academic success of military-connected children. They have been specifically designed to offer relevant and factual information about the U.S. education system, available resources to support the education of children of military-connected families, and practical ways in which School Liaisons can be integral to supporting these children's academic success.

The modules were developed through

  • interviews with School Liaisons and other key U.S. education officials;
  • input from experts from the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), the military branches, and the U.S. Department of Education; and
  • research of existing materials from various government sources.
