Please check out this State Department page and this page on our website for the information that should answer your question.
Why blog moved to new address?
My aunt sent a fee waiver form to take the citizen exam. She sent that form 45 days ago. I would like to know how many days she has to wait.
If the blog moved to a new address, I see you can still post comments here...

Is it possible to get a time extension?
This pertains to processing of N-400s. I understand timelines can be different based on many factors, external and internal to USCIS. Howvever, it is quite surprising to note many instances where certain local offices are receving their files very quickly from the NBC (in as little as 5 days) after fingerprinting. Offices like Atlanta have not had their cases transferred from the NBC even after 45 days after the biometrics. Since all of us pay the same $675, I would expect that we receive a similar level of service, speed and efficiency across the board. If Atlanta is always backlogged, why are staffing levels and processing efficiencies not reviewed and corrected as needed?
Why is USCIS not using unused visas?
My friend and his wife who has a green card, is moving back to her native coutry in Eastern Europe. She has a green card, but the question is, how long can she stay outside of the coutry before needing to reapply for residence?
Thank you in advance.
