Due to Hurricane Sandy, multiple USCIS offices will be closed. All applicants appointments will be rescheduled to the next available appointment date; applicants do not need to do anything to request a rescheduled date.  However walk-ins will be processed on a case-by-case basis.

Hurricane Sandy has impacted our phone operations for Monday October 29.  Customers needing to reach a USCIS Immigration Information Officer are encouraged to call between the hours of 1100am and 800pm Eastern Standard Time or visit our website.

USCIS just released a new resource that offers useful information for all workers in the United States.

Our new online Employee Rights Toolkit compiles a variety of creative informational materials you can use to learn—and teach others—about employee rights. The toolkit’s downloadable videos, brochures, fliers, posters and other features will help everyone understand worker rights and employer responsibilities in the E-Verify process.

See the toolkit’s attractive videos about Self Check, as well as useful information about the Unauthorized Practice of Immigration Law and other important topics—all in formats that make them easy to share with the public you serve. Most of the resources are available in both English and Spanish.

Join us for our next national Chinese-language public engagement on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. EDT.  This engagement is the second in a series called Jiao Liu—meaning “engagement” in Chinese. The theme of our Jiao Liu will be “How to Petition for an Immediate Relative.” 

Modeled after the agency’s successful Spanish-language Enlace series, Jiao Liu expands our ongoing efforts to work directly with our customers in their native language. At each Jiao Liu, USCIS representatives and subject-matter experts, who are fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, will be on hand to provide information, and answer general questions about immigration and naturalization.

Individuals in the New York City area may participate in person at our USCIS District Office located at 26 Federal Plaza, Room 3-310, New York, NY 10278.
