Newcomers & Visitors

Newcomers Information

We hold a Newcomer's Orientation session usually on the second month of every quarter. It is mandatory for all new military, DA Civilians and optional for family members. All new military, DA Civilians and family members are expected to review the Newcomer's Orientation slides and Services Contact handout available on AKO at https://www.us.army.mil/suite/files/29791574 (case sensitive) before the session. The slides are very helpful to review even before you get here.

Any questions generated from reviewing the slides can be asked at that session or sent in as an Interactive Customer Evaluation (ICE) comment to the appropriate agency ahead of time. If sent in as ICE comments, do not worry about rating the service, simply skip down to the remarks block and ask the question. Please ensure you provide a contact name, phone number or email.

Between the Garrison and Our Partner's services, you can prepare for your relocation now.

Visitors are always welcome to the “Best Hometown in the Army”

Fort Leavenworth is considered a national treasure with historic sites and homes, a world-class museum, the nation's premiere Buffalo Soldier monument, breathtaking views overlooking the Missouri River, scenic picnic areas and parks, and a challenging, rolling, 18-hole golf course.

We are an “open” installation. The general public is welcome to enter post without a military ID card.

All visitor and commercial traffic MUST use the main (Grant) gate.  Please use the far right lanes. Your vehicle may be searched.

We know it can be intimidating to enter post, but don’t let that discourage you. The security is necessary to keep us all safe, similar to security at airports and government buildings.
