In 2004 the Governor’s Office on National and Community Service, established 1993, was renamed the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. This change reflects both the mission and expanded role of the office.
The Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives works
to increase an ethic of service and volunteerism in the State of
Alabama, strengthen the capacity of Alabama’s faith and
community-based organizations, and promote collaboration among
individuals and organizations striving to meet some of the greatest
needs in our state.
Our Mission
To expand the capacity and partnerships of those who serve and transform Alabama’s
communities.
