IRO Sarah Ziebell makes presentation to over 50 specialists of the National Library of Belarus

On November 26, our Moscow-based Information Resource Officer Sarah Ziebell visited the National Library of Belarus to make a presentation on “A Glimpse into Preserving Our Audio/Visual Heritage in the U.S.” Over 50 preservation specialists from  the National Library of Belarus learned about current trends in the field of audio/visual preservation in the United States. IRO Ziebell  talked about current aspects of preservation and conservation as well as duplication and restoration processes. She also highlighted pros and cons of formats used for audio and video recording. Her presentation spurred a discussion on free access to digitized resources, copyrights, and ethical solutions of change due a restoration process. After the program, IRO Sarah Ziebell visited the National Library departments involved in preservation and met with the Deputy Director, who expressed sincere gratitude for her sharing American experience and assured Sarah of the Library’s cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in future.
