On October 19, Consulate General Erbil's KBR Fire Department hosted a meet and greet at the Erbil Diplomatic Support Center (EDSC) for children from an Erbil orphanage sponsored by the Al-Bashara Aid Society.

Al Bashara helps sponsor orphanages, hospitals and other relief agencies within Erbil. As part of Fire Prevention Week, the purpose of this visit was to meet with the orphans, show them the KBR fire trucks, and talk about fire prevention and fire safety.

On October 20, the acting Consul General, Tim Pounds, attended a charity donation ceremony at the German restaurant. Members of the Erbil Diplomatic Support Center (including Consulate staff, KBR, and others) donated to two local charities: the Erbil Orphanage and Christian Orphanage Erbil.

With additional support from the German restaurant, together they donated over $10,000 to these two local charities.
