U.S. Firm Invests 90 Million Egyptian Pounds in Kobusch Packaging Egypt

February 5, 2013

Alexandria – On February 5, U.S. Ambassador Anne Patterson visited the Borg el Arab plant of Kobusch Packaging Egypt, a U.S. company specializing in the production of flexible plastic packaging materials owned by Sun Capital Partners, a private American investment firm.  The Ambassador delivered remarks at a ceremony celebrating a recent investment of nearly 90 million EGP by the Kobusch Group.

“Your expansion is a great example of the way the U.S. private sector can invest, create jobs, and stimulate the Egyptian economy,” Ambassador Patterson told Kobusch employees at the investment launch ceremony.  “This bold step is just the type of American investment we want to support and encourage.”

This new investment will increase  the capacity  of Kobusch Packaging Egypt by  almost 50% in Alexandria’s Borg El Arab, adding more than 100 direct and indirect jobs. It will also increase U.S.-Egypt trade in the amount of 1.5 million U.S. dollars a year through the use of more American products in the production line.

Through its Sun Capital partners, Kobusch Egypt will also benefit from the expertise of Sun Capital subsidiaries in the USA and Europe.  The exchange of ideas and expertise among subsidiaries will benefit both parties as each side learns from the other’s experience.
