NAPLES, Italy – The Honorable David Thorne, U.S. Ambassador to Italy, visited senior leadership at the U.S. 6th Fleet headquarters on the Naval Support Activity in Naples, Italy, Nov. 15.

Upon his arrival, Thorne received official honors from the U.S. 6th Fleet staff honor guard and was greeted by Vice Adm. Frank C. Pandolfe, commander, U.S. 6th Fleet.

During the visit, Thorne received a briefing from Pandolfe about strategic planning within the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.

This is Thorne’s first visit to the Navy headquarters in Naples.

U.S. 6th Fleet headquarters is located in Naples, Italy and conducts the full range of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation missions in concert with coalition, joint, interagency and other parties in order to advance security and stability in Europe and Africa.
