The 2013 U.S.-Cambodia Education Fair was held on January 21 in Siem Reap and on January 22 in Phnom Penh.  Ten U.S. schools participated in the two-day event to promote their programs to Cambodian students.  The schools included colleges and universities from California, New York, Washington, Illinois, and Missouri.  The opening ceremony in Phnom Penh was presided over by H.E. Im Sethy, Minister of Education, and Eric Meyer, Consular Section Chief of the U.S. Embassy.  Both gave remarks about the importance of expanding educational opportunities for Cambodian youth. Ruwan Hulugalle & Company did a great job organizing the fair for the second year in a row.

Also participating at the Fair in Phnom Penh were representatives from the two EducationUSA advising centers in Phnom Penh, staff members from the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy, and members of the Ambassador’s Youth Council.  The event provided an opportunity for Cambodian high school students and their parents to learn about options for studying in the United States.  EducationUSA was able to provide broad-ranging information about the process of choosing and applying to U.S. schools, while the Consular Section answered pertinent questions about applying for a visa.
