Technical Services Branch (TSB)

The Technical Services Branch (TSB) provides technical assistance and support activities to Mid-Continent states, OSM offices, other Federal agencies, and the public on a variety of mining and reclamation topics including engineering, geology, hydrology, natural resources, soils, revegetation, mining and reclamation technology, and blasting.  In addition, TSB staff support the OSM Technical Innovation and Professional Services (TIPS) Program by providing instructors, course developers, and troubleshooters on TIPS software.  Similarly, the TSB contributes instructors and course developers to the OSM National Technical Training Program (NTTP) and conducts regional training classes.  The TSB also assists in OSM regulatory development, conducts State program amendment technical reviews, and supports the OSM Applied Science Program by providing technical representatives for both applied science and underground mine map projects.
