Family Member Preference Eligibility Wizard

Family member preference (FMP) is a Department of Defense (DOD) employment preference for eligible family members residing with a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or a U.S. citizen civilian employee of a U.S. Government Agency, whose duty station is in a foreign area. FMP does not apply to family members of locally hired civilian employees.   This wizard will help you determine if you are eligible for FMP.

Use of this wizard will not determine if the preference can be applied to a particular vacancy. Having FMP eligibility does not guarantee employment. Family member preference is not applicable for some hiring authorities, such as Veterans' Readjustment Appointment (VRA) and Delegated Examining Unit (DEU) vacancies. For positions outside of DOD you cannot claim FMP.
