TIME SCALES AND COORDINATE SYSTEMS, Section B

  • Page B6, The equation of the equinoxes and the paragraph following should read:

    equation of equinoxes = 1/15(Δψ cos ε + 0.002 64" sin Ω + 0.00 063" sin 2Ω)

and Δψ is the total nutation in longitude, ε is the mean obliquity of the ecliptic and Ω is the mean longitude of the ascending node of the Moon. The equation of the equinoxes is tabulated on pages B8-B15 at 0hUT for each day and should be interpolated to the required time if full precision is required.

  • Pages B18, B20, B21, and B23: The wrong symbol was used to define the obliquity of the ecliptic.

SUN, Section C

  • Page C24: The wrong symbol was used to define the obliquity of the ecliptic.

MAJOR PLANETS, Section E

  • Page E88, First table, Heading for the last column under Coefficient of the Potential:

    for 108J4 read 106J4

  • Page E88, Second table, Heading for the second column under Mean Denisty, mean density for Pluto:

    for 1.1g/cm3, read 2.1 g/cm3

STARS AND STELLAR SYSTEMS, Section H

  • Page H61, the entry in the last column of the table for 1228+126 (3C 274)

for 17.90 Jy read 71.90 Jy

ASTRONOMICAL CONSTANTS, Section K

  • Page K6, The wrong symbol was used to define the obliquity of the ecliptic.

  • Page K8, second to last line,

    for - 0.000 091 (n')(year -1955)2 seconds, read -0.000 091 (n' + 26)(year -1955)2 seconds.
