Errata 2007

Phenomena, Section A

  • Page A5, Elongations and Magnitudes of Planets at 0h UT:

replace Jan. 10 with Jan. -10

Time-Scales and Coordinate Systems, Section B

  • Page B7, paragraph 4, line 7:

replace “longitudes of the Earth and Jupiter” with “ecliptic longitudes of the Sun and Jupiter”

  • Page B30, in the equation for the precessional constant M:

    omit 0.00144312° from the equation

  • Page B60, last sentence under “Reduction from GCRS to the Celestial Intermediate Reference System — rigorous formulae”:

    replace a = 1/2 + Z/8 with a = 1/2 + (1/8)*(X2+Y2)

  • Page B70, line 7:

replace “longitude of the Earth” with “ecliptic longitude of the Sun”

The Moon, Section D

  • Page D2, Mean inclination of the lunar orbit to the ecliptic:

    replace 5.145 3964 with 5.156 6898

  • Pages D6–D20, even pages, column two:

The apparent longitude and latitude of the Moon has been calculated with respect to the mean ecliptic and not the true ecliptic; this occasionally affects the last decimal place by one digit. Corrected pages may be found here.

Satellites of the Planets, Section F

  • Page F6, Satellite diagram for Mars:

The diagram is incorrect for the date given; it shows the satellite configuration for December 25.0, 2007 UT. The correct diagram for December 24.0 UT, 2007 can be downloaded here.

  • Page F8, Satellite diagram for Jupiter:

The diagram is incorrect for the date given; it shows the satellite configuration for June 6.0, 2007 UT. The correct diagram for June 5.0 UT, 2007 can be downloaded here.

  • Page F8, Satellite diagram for Jupiter:

replace Jupiter I-V with Jupiter I-IV.

  • Page F36, Satellites of Jupiter, Times of Geocentric Phenomena:

    add December 31, 15 27 IV.Sh.I. and December 31, 15 43 IV.Sh.E.

Minor Planets and Comets, Section G

  • Multiple pages:

On pages G5 onwards, the minor planet transit times contain an unpredictable error. Mostly the times are in error by 0.1 or 0.2 minutes; occasionally the error reaches 0.4 minutes. Corrected pages may be downloaded here.

Astronomical Constants, Section K

  • Page K7, item 16, general precession in longitude at J2000.0:

    replace 5029.796 95 with 5028.796 95

Notes and References, Section L

  • Page L13, first paragraph:

    replace J2006.5 = 2006 July 2.625 = JD 245 3919.125
    with J2007.5 = 2007 July 2.875 = JD 245 4284.375
