Making Sure You Receive Your Rebate
On February 13, 2008, the Economic Stimulus Act was signed into law by President Obama after passing both the Senate and House of Representatives. This law gives a $600 rebate to individual taxpayers and $1,200 for married taxpayers filing joint returns. It also provides a minimum tax rebate of $300 ($600 for married taxpayers filing joint returns) for taxpayers with earned income of at least $3,000. This includes social security retirement benefits and compensation and pension benefits paid to disabled veterans for purposes of determining income eligibility for rebates. For those who fit into this second category, you must complete Form 1040 Sched A & B in order to receive your rebate.
