Mine Resistant Ambush Protection (MRAP) / Route Clearance Vehicle (RCV)

Traditionally, military vehicles and other end items are procured from a single manufacturer after a lengthy and structured development process. DoD pursued an aggressive urgent effort to procure MRAPs and Route Clearance Vehicles (RCVs) to save American lives. MRAP vehicles were procured from multiple Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and fielded directly to combat operations. To keep up with the rapid and non-traditional fieldings, aggressive support policies and procedures were approved and utilized by DLA to maintain and improve fleet readiness to ensure military capabilities in Iraq and Afghanistan were successful. At present, MRAPs are fully fielded with multiple MRAP/RCV vehicle variants and have saved many American and Allied lives. DLA Land and Maritime continues to focus on maintaining the right inventory in support of MRAPs and RCVs.

MRAP and DLA

DLA Land and Maritime formed the first Weapon System Program Management Office MRAP in July 2007 and BG McQuistion merged DLA support for the RCV and MRAP into one program office in February 2009. The MRAP Program Management team interfaces with the JPO MRAP program, the MRAP Weapon Systems Managers, various Land and Maritime directorates, DLA Primary Level Field Activities (PLFAs), the Services and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to streamline processes and provide seamless support to the MRAP Program.

MRAP Variants

There is no common MRAP vehicle design, as there are several vendors, each with its own vehicle, which facilitated the rapid fielding of the MRAP to the field. View MRAP Family of Vehicles.

MRAP Joint IPT

A Joint Stock Optimization IPT formed in July 2012 with membership from the JPO, multiple DLA organizations, the Services, and the OEMs to ensure the right sizing of MRAP inventory. As the MRAP program matures and transitions from the Joint Program Office to the Services and DLA, the DLA MRAP Program Management Office will continue to ensure optimum and seamless support through the establishment of stock optimization programs designed to benefit the services, DLA and ultimately the warfighter.
