MAJOR PLANETS, Section E

  • Page E42, the geocentric and heliocentric positions for Pluto are based on the JPL DE200 planetary ephemeris. We also provide these data using the JPL DE405 planetary ephemeris as a PDF file. This file requires a reader such as Acrobat.

  • Page E87, the North Pole Right Ascension and Declination are incorrect. Please replace as follows:

    Planet α2003 δ2003
    Mercury 281.02 61.45
    Venus 272.76 67.16
    Mars 317.70 52.90
    Jupiter I 268.05 64.49
    Jupiter II 268.05 64.49
    Jupiter III 268.05 64.49
    Saturn 40.72 83.55
    Uranus 257.35 -15.18
    Neptune 299.38 42.96
    Pluto 313.06 9.10

All numbers are in decimal degrees.

SATELLITES OF THE PLANETS, Section F

  • Page F4, entries for the Uranian moon IX, Cressida, are missing. The page F5 entries are present. Please use the following page F4 data for Cressida:

    IX Cressida
    orbital period=0.463 569 60
    max. elong. at mean opposition=5
    semimajor axis=61.78
    orbital eccentricity=0.000 4
inclination of orbit to Planet's Equator=0.01
motion of node on fixed plane =257

  • Page F4, for the Uranian moon, Bianca, replace the listed orbital eccentricity with the value 0.000 9

Stars and Stellar Systems, Section H

  • Table of Bright Stars, orbital correction to positions of wide binaries was incorrectly applied to the Hipparchos positions:
