USAG Benelux Volunteers Win National Awards

Two USAG Benelux volunteers, Ms. Gwen Whitney and Mr. Anthony Del Rosso will be honored with Distinguished Merit Awards from the American Association of Community Theatres (AACT) at their national convention to be held this June in Carmel, Indiana.    Members of the Chievres/SHAPE community, Mr. Del Rosso and Ms. Whitney volunteer their time and effort on behalf of the SHAPE Players and Performing Arts Centre, a component of USAG Benelux Family and MWR. The Distinguished Merit Awards are presented to individuals and organizations in recognition of outstanding contributions to the promotion and development of the highest standards of community theatre.

Mr. Del Rosso has been a dedicated volunteer with the SHAPE Players since May 2007 when he first acted in a production.  Within a very short time and with no previous experience, Tony was not only acting, but also producing, directing, and designing innovative graphic designs which have encouraged the public to see little known plays and musicals.  His performances in SHAPE Players’ productions have not only won awards but have also inspired his fellow amateur actors.

Ms. Whitney, who works for MWR Child Youth and School Services, has actively volunteered since 2004.  Gwen has inspired many new volunteers to assist with production design and to support technical crews.  She is generous with her time, energy, and spirit; volunteers who work with her are motivated to continue to learn and grow.  She has been a devoted friend to the SHAPE Players; her work and accomplishments will be long remembered.
