The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has selected two new Outreach Partners to serve the state of California. The Mental Health Association of California and Mental Health America of Los Angeles in partnership with the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute will represent the Northern/Central and Southern regions of the state, respectively. The NIMH Outreach Partnership Program is a nationwide initiative that enlists state-based nonprofit organizations to disseminate mental health research and conduct science-based mental health education and outreach, including activities focused specifically on mental health disparities, and/or child and adolescent mental health. Outreach Partners also work to increase the public’s awareness about opportunities to benefit from participation in research, and contribute to the nation’s mental health research agenda through dialogue with NIMH about the public health needs of communities within their states. Partners are selected through a competitive expert review process and represent every state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Program benefits include a $7,500 award, access to NIMH bulk publications free of charge, networking opportunities with other state and national organizations, and sponsored participation in the Program’s annual meeting.
