What is Social Media?

Social Media integrates technology, social interaction, and content creation, using the "wisdom of crowds" to collaboratively connect online information. Through social media, people or groups can create, organize, edit, comment on, combine, and share content.

Facebook is a social networking website where users can connect and interact with other people.

Writing on our Facebook Wall

The MPA Center encourages fans to write on the MPA Center Facebook Wall; however, any content posted to the Wall that meets the following criteria will be deleted:

  • Contains vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive terms that target specific ethnic or racial groups
  • Promotes products or services (non-commercial links that are relevant to the MPA Center or the post or comment are acceptable)
  • Is far off topic (i.e., not within the scope of the MPA Center, National Ocean Service, or NOAA)
  • Makes unsupported accusations

The appearance of external links, advertisements, political opinions, or other posts do not constitute endorsement or that of the U.S. Government.

Comments will not be edited to remove unacceptable content; the comments will just be deleted.

The MPA Center utlilizes AddThis to allow visitors to our site to easily share our content on social media venues, email, etc.
