Teammates,
I am very pleased to welcome and congratulate Mr. Ray Shepherd who is joining our team today as the new Director of the Defense Media Activity (DMA).
Mr. Shepherd has a long and distinguished career that will undoubtedly lead the DMA to new levels of excellence.
He is a career Air Force officer, an experienced business leader in the private sector, and a proven communicator.
He is the right person for the job and I know he will earn your respect and have your unconditional support.
The entire DMA team has done an outstanding job by keeping the organization moving forward while we completed the process of bringing a new director aboard.
I will have more to say about this next week during the official assumption of responsibilities ceremony.
In the meantime, when you get the opportunity please give Mr. Shepherd a warm welcome.

DMA - Ft Meade — January 23, 2012: The Defense Information School begins its first class for the Public Affairs Course for International Students. "This course was created to accommodate increased requests for public affairs training from our partner nations," said Stefo Lehman, an instructor for the course. "The course is designed to meet DOD priorities by giving U.S. personnel the opportunity to train with our foreign counterparts."

DMA - Ft Meade — 24 December 2011: The 2011 DMA Combined Federal Campaign raises over 38, 000 dollars for CFC. The 2011 Ft. Meade CFC campaign closed on 23 December. DMA exceeded its monetary goal and by over 72 percent. DMA employed a variety fund raising efforts such as a chili cook-off, holiday door decorating contest, book sales and auctions, as well as pledges.

DMA - Ft Meade — October 23, 2011: DMA has ribbon cutting ceremony to new DMA building at Ft. Meade. The 2005 BRAC recommendation consolidating the separate military media operations into a single activity culminated when the Defense Media Activity celebrated the completion of its new Headquarters and state-of-art Production facility.
