Therefore, these courses are closed to non-government organizations and individuals without exception. All training required by non-government entities can be obtained in the civilian sector.

Advanced Food TechnologyFood Analysis and Diagnostics, Food Defense, Food Safety[Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School and DoD Food Analysis and Diagnostic Laboratory (FADL)]. To provide critical science based technical skills training to Veterinary Food Inspection Specialists to ensure uniform interpretations of policies and application of procedures when performing inspections of subsistence. Upon completion of the course, graduates will be more proficient in protecting the force from food borne illnesses and able to contribute fully to the theater and command operations. Area of instruction includes food microbiology, chemistry, packaging technology, preservation, deterioration, and advanced sensory evaluation techniques. Students will experience the outcomes of different food spoilage organisms and abuses to food products both intentionally and naturally occurring and learn to differentiate between the two and why they occurred.

Animal Care Clinical ProficiencyAnimal Disease and Zoonoses, Animal Operations in Support of Other Agencies, Veterinary Treatment Facility Operations, Working Animals(Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School) To provide 68T20 Animal Care Specialists/NCOs with the essential skills, knowledge, and clinical proficiency to perform duties with or without minimal supervisory and clinical guidance of a Veterinary Corps Officer. Training emphasis revolves around the current operational environment that concentrates heavily on the treatment of the military working dog and assignments where application of unit-driven, hand-on instruction is at a minimum although crucial to the life cycle management for the 68T20. Charting the Course to a Healthier Force: Military Health Promotion Program BasicsBehavioral Health(Sponsor: USAPHC) This updated Army Health Promotion Course is designed to provide practical training in health promotion program development, implementation and evaluation at the installation level. The course follows the health promotion program framework specified in AR 600-63. The course will be conducted in three phases: 1) read-aheads and a pre-test, 2) core course sessions 3) post-test and project to be conducted individually. Course scheduled for 5 March-28 May 2013.
Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System-Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH)Industrial Hygiene(Sponsor: USAPHC) This course is designed to teach students how to use the Defense Occupational and Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System-Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) web-based application. This course is provided for Industrial Hygiene staff members who will be actively entering data into the DOEHRS-IH application at an Industrial Hygiene Program Office. Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System-Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) Industrial Hygiene: FOR CTC EMPLOYEES ONLY Industrial Hygiene(Sponsor: USAPHC PHCR-South) This course is designed to teach students to use the DOEHRS-IH information management system. DOEHRS-IH is a web-based application that is used to collect industrial hygiene survey information. In order to be eligible to attend, the prerequisites listed in the course description must be completed and current. Course dates will be posted as soon as a new class is scheduled. Environmental and Indoor Air QualityAir QualityThe Environmental and Indoor Air Quality Blackboard module provides CP-12 careerists with Instruction on general and technical topics related to air quality, air cleaning technology, emission source sampling, atmospheric dispersion of pollutants, air monitoring, and effects of air pollution which are valuable skills that can be incorporated directly to their job responsibilities.

Global Medicine CourseProfessional Medical Education(Sponsor: U.S. Air Force) This site is for Army applicants only. Other services please contact your service rep. The course emphasis is for the physician to be able to successfully design and implement a plan which minimizes the health risk of the endemic natural biologic hazards to a deploying or deployed force. To achieve this objective, lectures in epidemiology, deployment preparation, medical intelligence sources, and many infectious diseases are presented.
Green Purchasing - On-site TrainingGround Water and Solid Waste(Sponsor: USAPHC) On-site training is provided to assist installations with implementation of green purchasing, with emphasis on the Federal agency requirement to purchase designated products made with recycled materials (known as affirmative procurement). Training also addresses procurement of biobased, energy efficient, and other environmentally preferable products. Health Risk Communication TrainingHealth Risk Assessment, Surveillance, and Management(Sponsor: USAPHC) This on-site course provides an understanding of the concepts, principles, and process of effective risk communication. Participants learn to strategically plan for effectively addressing public and/or worker concerns that affect mission success. The research-based risk communication principles presented are effective in planning for and addressing concerns related to health, environmental, deployment, Homeland Security, and occupational health issues. Hearing Technician Certification Course (formerly the DOEHRS-HC course)Hearing Readiness and Conservation(Sponsor: USAPHC) This training is available to those who use the Defense Occupational and Environmental Readiness System-Hearing Conservation (DOEHRS-HC) test software as part of their military or DoD civilian job requirements. Each 3½ day training course is for individuals who have never been certified to perform hearing tests (and other hearing readiness-related tasks) or for those technicians whose certification is about to expire (certification is good for 5 years). The courses scheduled for April 2013 are full; additional courses are scheduled for 18-21 June 2013; 24-27 June 2013; 17-20 September 2013; and 23-26 September 2013 in Belcamp, MD. Installation Veterinary ServicesAnimal Disease and Zoonoses, Animal Operations in Support of Other Agencies, Commercial Audits, Drinking Water, Food & Drug Recalls, Food & Water Risk Assessments, Food Defense, Food Safety, Operational Rations, Veterinary Treatment Facility Operations, Working Animals(Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School) To introduce new command directives and concepts, which will reinforce required training identified by the Department of Defense Veterinary Service Activity (DODVSA) and Veterinary Service units worldwide. A wide variety of food safety, quality and defense inspection policies and directives are covered in addition to animal medicine polices and directives, which encompass the current needs of the Veterinary Service. This course is built using three training modules each consisting of 38 academic hours; MACOM Food Inspection Mission, Food Defense Program, and Commercial Sanitation Audit Program. Instruction presented will be based on the specific training needs of the requesting unit. Only one module of the three will be presented during the designated 1-week iteration of training.
Intermediate Industrial Hygiene Topics CourseIndustrial Hygiene(Co-sponsored with AMEDD Center and School) This course provides continuing education in technical aspects and core competencies of industrial hygiene. Specific content may vary from year to year depending upon current issues. This course is a two-part course. The first week is a mandatory series of Defense Connect Online Sessions that provide slides and lectures on Industrial Hygiene Core Competency-based material. The second week of this course is face-to-face at Edgewood, MD and includes a series of practicums to support sampling and field evaluation techniques. Phase 1 dates: 25 February - 1 March 2013. Phase 2 dates: 11-15 March 2013.

Medical Detachment (Veterinary Service) Predeployment Course RC (Reserve Component)Animal Disease and Zoonoses, Animal Operations in Support of Other Agencies, Commercial Audits, Drinking Water, Food & Drug Recalls, Food & Water Risk Assessments, Food Defense, Food Safety, Operational Rations, Working Animals(Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School) This course focuses on the scope and duties of veterinary personnel in both a mature and immature theater, and is tailored specifically for the theater the unit is expected to enter. It may include, but is not limited to: OCONUS audits; operational rations inspection; food defense; food safety concerns specific to the theater; staff operations; logistics support; Military Working Dog (MWD) care; large and small animal medicine; and zoonotic, foreign or endemic animal diseases of concern in the theater.
Medical Waste Transport - Online Refresher CourseHazardous and Medical Waste(Sponsor: USAPHC) The purpose of this on-line course is to recertify housekeeping and medical facility personnel who package and ship regulated medical waste. Personnel may register for this refresher course ONLY if their basic MWT training is due to expire within 90 days. Once accepted, students have 30 days from their official start date to complete the course.

Military Tropical Medicine CourseProfessional Medical Education(Co-sponsored with AMEDD Center and School) The four-week curriculum covers a broad range of topics in tropical diseases, with corresponding laboratory sessions, including helminths, malaria and other protozoa. There is a comprehensive lab practical and written exam at the end of the course, as well as weekly lab quizzes. This is a military course and, as such, qualifies for entry in Section VI (Military Education) of the Officer Record Brief. Dates will be posted when a course is scheduled.
Multimedia Environmental - On-site TrainingAir Quality, Entomology and Pest Management, Ground Water and Solid Waste, Hazardous and Medical Waste, Surface Water and Waste Water(Sponsor: USAPHC) Site-specific training is available to help installations understand environmental program requirements, access resources to assist with program implementation, and fulfill key compliance requirements. Training may be directed toward management personnel, environmental staff, and/or shop-level workers. Instruction includes media-specific consultations in the areas of Air Quality, Asbestos Management, Contingency Planning (POL), Hazardous Waste Management, NEPA, Solid Waste Management, Waste Water, Water Quality, Storage Tank Management, Integrated Natural Resources, and Integrated Pest Management. Operational RationsOperational Rations(Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School) The course is designed as a train the trainer course for all aspects of operational rations, from production down to inspection at both the stateside storage facilities to inspection at the unit in a war time theater. Rations covered will be MREs, HDRs, Totems, Survival rations, UGR-A and UGR H&S. Different defects and why they occurred as well as how to successfully navigate the different tables of inspection for each.
Operational Risk Management Course - On-site TrainingHealth Risk Assessment, Surveillance, and Management(Co-sponsored with the National Center for Medical Intelligence) A 3-day course on Operational Risk Management (ORM) for Deployment Occupational and Environmental Health Surveillance (DOEHS). The target audience would be Preventive Medicine (PM) staff officers, and NCOs; Medical Detachment Commanders and NCOICs; and PHC subordinate command project officers. Service members from all components and civilian personnel are also welcome. The intent of the course is to train PM personnel in translating medical and environmental data into common Army ORM language that can be readily understood by field commanders. Students will learn how the ORM process applies to industrial chemicals, vector-borne and zoonotic diseases as well as ionizing radiation. Using AFMIC resources, students will learn how to perform environmental Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield. Support to current military operations and situational practical exercises will also assist in reinforcing DOEHS ORM concepts. Physical Environment Essentials for MTF PersonnelIndustrial Hygiene, Medical Safety(Sponsor: USAPHC) The course is geared to military and civilians who are responsible for one or more of the Physical Environment Programs. Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training (P3T) Train-the-Trainer Leader CoursePhysical Fitness and Training(Sponsor: USAPHC) This course provides guidance on establishing and operating a local P3T consolidated installation program. The target audience includes health care providers, MWR personnel, and unit leadership involved in local P3T Program implementation. P3T Leader Course to be held 11-15 March 2013 in Yongsan, Korea. Risk Communication for Industrial HygienistsHealth Risk Communication, Industrial Hygiene(Sponsor: USAPHC) This course provides Industrial Hygiene Core Competency based material for the Communication Skills/Technical Writing competency. This 3-day face-to-face course will provide risk communication training specific to issues commonly encountered by the industrial hygienist in the field. Soldier Medical Readiness Campaign - Injury Prevention/Human Performance Optimization Education SeriesBehavioral Health, Injury Prevention(Sponsor: USAPHC, AMEDD) Quarterly sessions provide military medical providers and staff, particularly physical therapists, and health promotion professionals with information about a variety of medical readiness topics. Courses are held quarterly via DCO and telecon. The next session will be held in late April or early May.
Surety Medicine VTCsSurety Medicine(Sponsor: USAPHC) These monthly video teleconferences are for physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants, who serve as medical authorities for surety programs. Topics address screening and assessing workers for duties in the chemical, biological or nuclear personnel reliability programs. The next VTC will be held 20 February 2013 at 1300 hours.
Surveillance Food Laboratory ManagerFood Analysis and Diagnostics, Food Defense, Food Safety[Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School and Food Analysis and Diagnostic Laboratory (FADL)] This course encompasses the management of a surveillance food laboratory as required to support the unique military mission of the Veterinary Services Table of Equipment (TOE) units and the Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA) Public Health Command Districts for food safety and defense. The objective is to standardize the background information, laboratory management, and to provide continuous updates in new and emerging methodologies and technologies and laboratory management principles. Training includes laboratory roll out, setup and maintenance; personnel certification requirements; familiarization with testing methodologies; review and assessment of laboratory documents; establishing a food testing program and applied targeted testing; evaluation, response, and reporting of laboratory results; and laboratory audits. The majority of the course consists of applied laboratory management wet labs. Dates will be posted when the next course is scheduled.
Surveillance Food Laboratory TechFood Analysis and Diagnostics, Food Defense, Food Safety[Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School and Food Analysis and Diagnostic Laboratory (FADL)] This course provides training to veterinary personnel responsible for the operation of the Veterinary Equipment Set (VES) Field Microbiology and VES Food Testing Sets Kits and Outfits (SKO) for the Veterinary Service Table of Equipment (TOE) Procurement and Surveillance Teams and the Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA) mission at the Public Health Command Districts in support of worldwide Department of Defense Veterinary Service missions in the contemporary operating environment (COE). The objective is to standardize the background information as well as standardization of techniques and procedures; to provide continuous updates and principles in new and emerging methodologies and technologies. This course is designed to give junior enlisted and designated civilian technicians the technical tasks, knowledge, and skills to conduct rapid and automated tests for indicators of food safety and wholesomeness at surveillance food laboratories in accordance with the US Army Surveillance Food Laboratory Program Guide (SFLPG). Training includes the use and limitations of the assays; equipment use and maintenance; supplies and inventory; results determinations, recording, and interpretations; presumptive positive results; and formal reporting of results. The majority of the course consists of hands-on technical wet labs; culminating in the grading of laboratory worksheets and oral reporting of results. Dates will be posted when a new course is scheduled.
Transport of Biomedical Materials Laboratory Sample Management(Sponsor: USAPHC) This course is designed specifically for laboratory personnel who package and ship laboratory samples and specimens. Housekeeping personnel should register for the 2 and a half day USAPHC Medical Waste Transport Course. We are not providing funding - it is your unit/installations responsibility to pay TDY and travel expenses. Courses scheduled for 18-22 March 2013 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA; 22-26 April 2013 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; and 15-19 July 2013 in San Antonio, TX.

Transport of Biomedical Materials (Online Refresher Course)Hazardous and Medical Waste(Sponsor: USAPHC) Registrant must be DoD or DoD contractor personnel who has successfully completed the initial TBM training or a 2-week DoD certification training course. You may register for this refresher course ONLY if your basic TBM training is due to expire within 90 days. Registrations not meeting the 90 day timeframe will be deleted and you will be required to reregister within the 90 day timeframe. You have 30 days to complete the course.

Tri-Service Vision Conservation and Readiness Site or Occupation Specific (TSVCR-SOS)Vision Conservation and Readiness(Sponsor: USAPHC) A two-part course that includes a site visit to evaluate specific vision conservation requirements and a 4-hour course specifically tailored to meet the requesting organization’s requirements. The specific course topics can include fundamentals of vision, lighting and lighting requirements, color vision and occupational issues, vision screening and testing methods, and vision conservation program management. Additional topics can be included based on specific training requirements or needs. This course is done at the requesting unit’s duty station. It is scheduled to be accomplished within a single duty day. The course may be requested throughout the year. A Professional Engineer at Public Health Command provides instruction on basic ventilation units, mathematics, engineering properties and testing equipment. This is the first course in a four course series for this competency.
Veterinary Readiness Mobilization and DeploymentAnimal Disease and Zoonoses, Animal Operations in Support of Other Agencies, Commercial Audits, Drinking Water, Food & Drug Recalls, Food & Water Risk Assessments, Food Defense, Food Safety, Operational Rations, Working Animals[Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School and Forces Command (FORSCOM)] To provide a comprehensive view of the mission, structure, and function of a veterinary TOE unit/detachment in a theater of operations. Areas of instruction include: Veterinary food protection, inspection, sanitation, public health, and preventive medicine in a theater of operations and deployment; food procurement in OCONUS environment; readiness and veterinary TOE equipment issues, and nation assistance programs.

Veterinary Support to a Theater of OperationsAnimal Disease and Zoonoses, Animal Operations in Support of Other Agencies, Commercial Audits, Drinking Water, Food & Drug Recalls, Food & Water Risk Assessments, Food Defense, Food Safety, Operational Rations, Working Animals(Sponsor: AMEDD Center and School) To prepare Veterinary Corps Officers, Veterinary Corps Food Safety Officers, and Veterinary Food Inspection Specialist NCOs to successfully perform their duties in an OCONUS TDA or TOE environment by providing a comprehensive overview of the current mission, structure, and function of the Veterinary Service. Areas of instruction include advanced training on sanitary audits of potentially hazardous foods, including meat and dairy inspection; food procurement; food defense assessment and mitigation in an environment; commercial food establishment laboratory audits; operational rations inspection and program management; medical and surgical care of animals; nation assistance programs; Food and Water Risk Assessment; and veterinary operations in an OCONUS environment.
