Medal ceremony a bonus for daughter

The family of a retired Army sergeant who fought in three wars, and who has been dead for more than a decade, will be presented his military medals in a ceremony Monday at the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

The presentation ceremony is also something of a personal triumph for the daughter of Master Sgt. James Joseph Johnson, since it was a personal aside Kelly Johnson made while thanking the staff of Rep. Scott Garrett for "saving my life" that led to the medal ceremony.
