North Inlet Hosts Statewide Conference

The South Carolina Marine Educators Association (SCMEA) will gather October 5th-7th to highlight current trends in marine education within the state.  This 24th annual fall conference will be hosted by North Inlet-Winyah Bay NERR, and other partners on the Hobcaw Barony in Georgetown, SC. Through the conference theme, Rice, Roe, & Indigo: Exploring Our Cultural Connections to Winyah Bay, classroom teachers, professors, naturalists, aquarium specialists, marine biologists, government officials and others are invited to join the SCMEA’s ongoing work to improve and expand marine education opportunities in South Carolina. Seeing the value SMEA brings to improving marine education opportunities in the region, the South Carolina NERRS continue their long history of being active leaders on the board of the SCMEA with Beth Thomas (Education Coordinator at North Inlet Winyah Bay NERR) as the President-Elect, Blaik Keppler (Coastal Training Program Coordinator at ACE Basin NERR) as Secretary, and Julie Binz (Education Coordinator at ACE Basin NERR) Treasurer.
