Celebrate National Estuaries Day!

Like a tide of awareness about the state our estuaries, National Estuaries Day rolls in every last Saturday on the month of September. This year National Estuaries Day will be celebrated September 29, 2012.  There are a variety of ways to celebrate these critical coastal habitats.  Your first stop should be to check out the variety of events happening across the country. One of the best ways to help celebrate estuaries is by volunteering at a NERR estuary day event or beach clean-up.  Don't have an event in your community? Then plan a National Estuaries Day event and make sure to send us your event to add to our list.

In in honor of Estuaries Day this year National Ocean Service (NOS) will be featuring information and educational tools from the NERRS using our “Estuaries Wednesday” social media effort. Check out the NOS Facebook and NOS Twitter sites for new Estuaries Day features every Wednesday leading up to Estuaries Day this year.  We look forward to seeing you in the estuary this fall!
