No place in the world has made me consider my place in the universe like Jellyfish Lake. Millions of creatures all drifting seemingly aimlessly, searching for light, for the energy to spawn so generations of their offspring may do the same years later. I take a small breath, sink toward the bottom, watching them in wonder and think are we really so different?

Check out today's Google Doodle celebrating Lady Ada Lovelace, the world's first computer programmer.  I found the linked blog post fascinating.
Google compartió inicialmente esta publicación:
Lady Ada Lovelace, born nearly two centuries ago on December 10, 1815, is considered by some to be the world’s first computer programmer. In 1843, she published the first algorithm intended for use on Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine. Nearly a century before the first computers were built, Ada envisaged a day when a single machine would be capable of a myriad of tasks, limited only by the creativity of its programmer.

Today we're celebrating Ada's prophetic vision for computing with a doodle on homepages worldwide. We hope today's doodle inspires people to find out more about Ada, and about the contributions made by women in general to science and technology. Read more: http://goo.gl/zL9Ar

Sergey Why your romanian employers from AdWords România  are not respecting the terms and the conditions of a campaign ?
They launched a campaign . The terms and conditions were respected by me , the promo code did not worked  - i writed to the support  and i did not received an response .I writed again to the US support team and i was trowed again to the romanian team , team which provided me other terms and conditions for the campaign - not the original ones - i can provide you the emails from them  .In the email that i received were mentioned other conditions were inserted new additional  terms as an maximum 21 days age of the account .- In the page that they sended me its writen another number of days . My campaign respected and respects all terms and conditions  and i created a new campaign , a new product as specified in terms and conditions .
Also i mention that a friend of mine with an similar account used the promo code without problem
Thank you

Don't miss today's solar eclipse.  I took the one below a couple years back on Hao atoll.  It's very spectacular in person if you around Cairns right now but if not you can catch a live stream online.  It's about 5 minutes to totality at many sites.

I must confess, I am dreading today's elections.
Not because of who might win or lose.
Not because as a Californian, my vote for President will count 1/3 as much as an Alaskan (actually it won't matter at all -- I'm not in a swing state).
Not because my vote for Senate will count 1/50 as much as an Alaskan.

But because no matter what the outcome, our government will still be a giant bonfire of partisanship...Mostrar esta publicación »

I've read most of the comments on this subject, and I think most of the comments come close to the real reason the country and  the whole world are having problems with their govenments, is the fact that we the people don't have a government that function for us the people.....CORPORATE WORLD has brought out all of the governments of the world and has created a world wide class war.....and for those of you who don't believe there is class warfare, just look to the justice systems, and the medical systems....if you are a member of the elite, then these two systems work a lot different for them, than it does for you and me. No politician no matter what affiliation, they are or where  in the world they are is really working for the working class, just follow the money

I caught this beautiful sunrise a few weeks ago ... a nice antidote for those who are facing very different weather in the next 24 hours on the east coast.

Nothing is quite like swimming with a humpback whale. Believe it or not, this is a baby! Despite our language (and culture and species) barrier, her intelligence and playfulness shone through right away. As I snorkled at the surface, she came up every minute or two to take a breath (the adults only breathe every 15 minutes or so). Each time, she got closer and closer until she was almost tackling me...Mostrar esta publicación »

Todas las fotos de todas las publicacionesTodas las fotos de perfil2012-12-21I got some requests to use some images for wallpaper.
So I am starting this album with full res versions.
Hopefully the feature will be built in soon.Álbum de las fotos del muralPyramidsUnder the Red Sea!I traveled to Hao Atoll for the July 11 Solar Eclipse. It was spectacular. However, unlike my last eclipse experience murphy's law seemed to kick in. Clouds emerged right around the time of the eclipse so we only saw about 30 seconds of totality in the clear. My camera control software didn't start firing so I had to futz with it. And my telescope got misaligned so I didn't get the full frame of the sun. Nevertheless I did manage a couple of nice shots with great detail of the prominences. These pictures are from a relief mission to Haiti that I participated in.
Please see my blog post here for more information:
http://too.blogspot.com/2010/01/hope.htmlI was lucky enough to get a chance see the '09 eclipse - the longest of this century with a few friends and researchers. Thanks to many people and the weather (though one cloude threatened to spoil it all) we got a great viewing on the Enewetak Atoll. It will take a long time to go through all the pictures and process them but here are a few nice ones.2009.07 Alaska2008.12 Dancing AirshipsI went on the inaugural charter flight for Airship Ventures. It was really a beautiful tour of the bay and I hope the photos capture it.

I accidentally left the ISO way too low at 125 (this camera can go almost 10x that without much noise) which was fine early in the journey but if you look closely you will see some motion blur toward sunset. Good thing photography is not my day job.2008.08 EclipseAlcedo HighlightsNiueTongaFrench PolynesiaKalalauHigher Res.
