Hi, I’m the developer of Rotating Tweets (https://wordpress.org/plugins/rotatingtweets/).
I would like @abhis2.0 to be the translator of the Hindi edition.
Here are some country statistics for the signups on wptranslationday.org (based on 1149 attendees). A total of 105 countries are represented.
Beautiful! Thanks Mattias! I’m curious what the results will be at the end of the day 🙂
Hello Mattias, M sorry to bother you but where is Tibet in the country list ? We also signed up in the Google Spreadsheet on local events. Nevertheless Thank you for this superb initiative.
Might be an error in the dropdown @ https://wptranslationday.org/#attend, Tibet doesn’t seem to be present in that list and therefor not in the stats 🙁 (these stats are specific to the signups in the form on https://wptranslationday.org/#attend )
There was 1 registration as “Country”
Alright Mattias ! Understood and thank you for the Prompt reply.
16 for Thailand 🙂
96 for Brazil. 🙂
Very nice! 105 countries, amazing 😀
Wow, great news. A true global participation. We can expect around 100 people from India 🙂
Hi,
please add me as Translation Editor for #de_DE for my plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/javascript-autoloader/.
Thanks
You now can edit translations for https://wordpress.org/plugins/javascript-autoloader/
To keep the translation consistent with other translations, please make use of our glossary at https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/de/default/glossary.
Best regards, Bego
Releases: 160 locales. 55 locales up to date. 0 locales behind by minor versions. 20 locales behind by one major version. 16 locales behind more than one major version. 59 locales have a site but never released. 10 locales don᾿t have a site.
Final recap before the event: 36 local events. 11 remote events. 20 live streaming sessions. 1074 signed up as of just now.
There’s a twitter account that will give information about the event throughout the day and then general info about translating WordPress. You can follow it here: https://twitter.com/translatewp
The speakers and helpers behind the scenes will be invited to join https://wptranslationday.slack.com for the day.
Live sessions will be in Crowdcast: you can already join the event: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/wptranslationday/register
Before you start the day, please say “Hello” in the #Polyglots channel on Slack and provide a link to the place where you’re running your remote event (local slack channel or IRC channel or any other place where you’re communicating with other translators)
General goal as a team for this year is trying to get as many of the top 100 plugins and themes fully localized. Top 100 is defined by active installs. There is currently no filter to select the most active themes and plugins, but @savione will create an issue on meta trac.
Logs from the chat: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/polyglots/p1461146211000125 (Thank you for the notes, @pixolin!)
Did we have any statistics on locales for the sign ups? *Curious* 🙃
1. The Slovakian Style guide URL at https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/tools/list-of-glossaries-per-locale/ is pointing to the Japanese version.
2. Some people are adding URLs in the comments section at the above URL, please parse that.
3. For Polish (pl_PL), here are the links:
@eclare thanks for the heads up! The Polish resources were added. Thank You!
I’m doing a cleanup of WordPress.com Translation Resouces page found the links below. I want to ask respective GTEs if these are still current. I’m pinging one or two GTEs so it won’t be too noisy, but feel free to reply if you are also a GTE!
I removed all of these from the WordPress.com resources page. We can just link to the new .org page now 🙂
All the resources mentioned for #ro_RO are current and mantained.
Opps, forgot to check that even though I saw your comment. Thank you!
Greetings from Germany. We are about to publish the Translation Style Guide on de.wordpress.org (and used the existing Translation Style Guide for WordPress.com before). I’ll provide you with the link, when we are done (i.e. this week).
The link to the translation blog (teamwpde.wordpress.com) is correct, yet we use it rarely since the introduction of Slack.
The other link to the wpde.org-forum is legacy and shouldn’t be published.
Sounds good, let me know the new link whenever it’s ready. I’ll add it to the handbook page. Thank you!
Hi @nao, when I´ve published the Translation Style Guide on de.wordpress.org, I can put the link to the list myself (I have editor rights to the handbook, too), so it is not needed to bother you 😉 // @pixolin
Perfect, thanks for checking it off the list. ✅
HI Naoko: This is one support path we keep using because its openess (no need to registrer on slack)
I see! I’m not sure where to put it in the resource chart, so I’ll let you direct users to the forum.
Thanks for the clarification!
Resources mentioned for #el are current and actively mantained!
Great, added to the list 🙂 Thanks @kosvrouvas
wpitaly is active and maintained buy I think it was there before you opened italian forums here too.
Ok, so I guess it’s not necessary to add it to the handbook page. The resources page on WordPress.com doc was added 2 years ago, so it’s a good thing we are updating the .org resource links!
I think it’s not yet necessary 🙂
On wpitaly there are style guides, but now there are on wp.org too.
Dear polyglots,
Here’s a short agenda for the Polyglots chat today.
The chat starts at 11am UTC on Slack. See you there!
Cheers,
Petya
Hello Polyglots!
I am Makarand Mane @mkrndmane We are team of 5 contributors @erjaydeep7576 @adityachougale @tusharwesanekar @unsharpme including me, started translating WordPress in Marathi.
There is only one translation editor for marathi is active. As I am student of Marathi medium school, have good knowledge of Marathi. I want to become a Marathi Translation Editor. I know there is already one active editor, but if you add me as editor for Marathi then approval process can get more speedy. As load on one editor will get lowered.
We are targeting 100% translation by Global WordPress Translation Day.
Thanking you all..
Makarand Mane @mkrndmane
Hey @mkrndmane! Thanks for the request!
@patilswapnilv and @kidakaka are the current translation editors for Marathi! I’m sure they’ll appreciate the help.
@patilswapnilv If you’re ok with adding a new General Translation Editor, please follow the instructions here and add @mkrndmane so you can get Mr to 100% faster https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/rosetta/roles-and-capabilities/adding-new-users/#adding-new-general-translation-editors
Thank you!
Petya
Hi,
I’m the developer of Simple History (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-history/).
I would like @icopydoc to be the maintainer of the Russian translation. Thanks
Hey everyone,
I prepared a first draft of the schedule for the GWTD live streaming based on the list of live sessions suggested in the Organising Spreadsheet.
@savione, @wolly, @nao, @coachbirgit, @pokeraitis, @tacoverdo, @luisrull, @fxbenard, @jordicuevas, @isaackeyet, @johnbillion, @garyj, @ocean90 could you please check if the designated slots are ok with you and if you need to switch or have a preferred spot that you haven’t indicated in the spreadsheet, please let me know and we can switch.
We have one slot left in the morning, at 05:00 UTC and considering the number of events in India (amazing!), it would be great if we could have 1 or 2 short training sessions for some of the Indian locales #hi_IN, #mr, #gu, #ml
@gounder @mbigul @gagan0123 @gyan Would any of you (or maybe more than one) like to take on the 05:00 UTC slot and maybe do a live streaming session for the locale you’re managing?
From the most downloaded languages currently we’re missing #ar, #ru, #pt_PT, #pt_BR, #zh_CN #zh_TW. There is still time if any of the GTEs would like to get involved – we have a slides template you can use.
I’ve included several sessions that are not training in the schedule:
We currently have three remaining 1-hour time slots in the schedule – 5am UTC (I’m hoping one of the Indian L10n teams will take that one), 9pm UTC and 10pm UTC.
There are several things we can do with them:
Feedback on the schedule, suggestions, comments, questions are much needed! If you see the words “needs a speaker, would you like to do it?” next to a session title, you can pick it up! Please raise your hand. I might be able to do all those, but I don’t want to do them all, there are so many of you that have that knowledge!
Thank you all in avance for your amazing work so far for this event. We have more than 920 people signed up on the site to participate in the initiative. Let’s make it worth their while and show the world what a fantastic job we’re doing.
Love,
Petya
Hi all,
7am will be impossible for me, I’ll be on the road to go to Bordeaux. Things start at 8am there and I will love to say hi to everybody, get settle before launching the session.
We’ll find you a better slot, @fxbenard, no worries.
I changed my preference. I would like to have the session at 8am or 9am UTC (10am/11am in Slovakia) because that is at the beginning of our Contributor Day. But if it is not possible, I will just do the presentation twice (one for local contributors, second for remote ones) as primarily intended.
@savione How do you feel about taking the 7am slot (that’s 9am in Slovakia)?
That is too early.
Ok. Let’s try this again then. @fxbenard Is 11am UTC ok for you? If that works, I can move @savione to the 9am UTC slot.
@petya You mean 9 am UTC -11 h 00 France as in the spreadsheet – it will be fine for me
@fxbenard, no I mean 11am UTC, Peter asked for the 8am UTC or 9am UTC slot and I’m trying to switch him with someone 🙂 That’s why I asked if you’re ok with 11am UTC, which is Peter’s current slot
My family coming specially for lunch and we’re having a big lunch with all translators. 11am UTC will be kind of hard for me.
Of course it’s ok 🙂
@savione Your other option is switching with @tacoverdo. If Taco’s ok with taking the 11am UTC slot.
I would gladly take the 11am UTC slot, as we will not start our translation day before 11am local time which makes 8am UTC hard/impossible for me.
Switching with Taco is ok for us.
@gagan0123 has been away for a family engagement, but I can confirm #hi_IN is ready to take up the said slot.
Yaaaaay! That’s awesome, @saurabhshukla thank you so much. Adding you to the Schedule.
Also, I second the
“Switch one of the video recordings to the late slots and do a panel with several GTEs talking about how we manage our local translation teams and comparing best practices.”
idea. As a part of a nascent and a messy team, I think I can speak for at least all the new Indian languages that we could use such a session a lot.
Let’s see if more people get on board and we can absolutely do that.
“Plugin/Theme authors: How to get your plugin or theme on translate.wordpress.org (needs a speaker, would you like to do it?)” we could ask Dennis Ploetner maybe?
Awesome idea! @francina could you jump on this? Get Dennis here?
Pinged him on Slack 🙂
I’m not sure that I have enough time to prepare something useful for Sunday. Some members (including me) of the local meetup group will meet together during the afternoon anyway…
Too bad, but thanks anyway, Dennis.
All the best @saurabhshukla (y)
I’m going to need to drop out (14:00 UTC slot), and I’ve not found anyone else to cover an en-* locale. Sorry.
Thanks for letting us know, Gary!
If still needed, I’m free for “Plugin/Theme i18n: How to prepare your plugin or theme for translate.wordpress.org (needs a speaker)”.
@claudiosanches That would be awesome, thanks Claudio! Our slot for this talk is pretty early right now – 4am UTC. I don’t know where you are in the world, but if you’re in Brazil, maybe it’s better to take the 8pm or 9pm slots?
@claudiosanches Just noticed we also don’t have a sessions for translating WordPress to Portuguese, neither from the pt_BR nor from the pt_PT team.
Any interest in doing one? We have a slide deck prepared with the general information that just needs to be translated and specifics added for the particular language.
@petya, I’m in Brazil, 5 UTC is still 2 am for me, not then it would not be a problem. But could switch to 8 or 9 too.
And yes, I’d be happy to talk about translating to Portuguese 🙂
@claudiosanches ACE! Could you fill in your details in this document, in the Live Streaming Sessions tab?
@claudiosanches forgot to mention you in the comment above, just making sure you get the ping ^^
@petya done 🙂
Hello Polyglots,
I am the plugin maintainer for EU Cookie Law – https://wordpress.org/plugins/eu-cookie-law/. Please add the following Translator Editor:
done
Thank you but… Why he’s not listed?
https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/es/default/wp-plugins/eu-cookie-law
Hi, not sure how this works but could I be added as Dutch Translation Editor for my own plugins?
https://wordpress.org/plugins/coolclock/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-fancybox/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack-module-control/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/xml-sitemap-feed/
Thanks 🙂
Should be ok. @chantalc @tacoverdo Could you take a look?
@RavanH, you have been added as PTE for easy-fancybox, jetpack-module-control and xml-sitemap-feed for #nl_NL.
You have not been added as PTE for https://wordpress.org/plugins/coolclock/, because it doesn’t seem available on translate.wordpress.org.
If you have any questions about translating to Dutch, please join the Dutch polyglots on the Dutch Slack. You can sign up here: https://wpnl.slack.com/signup.
Please keep in mind the Glossary for Dutch when checking translations.
\o/
Thanks all !
Question: why could https://wordpress.org/plugins/coolclock/ not be available on translate? Should I just wait or is there something wrong?
Hello Polyglots!
I am the plugin author for the following plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-social-media-plus/. We have a number of great translation editors that we’d like to be able to approve translation for our plugin.
Please add the following WordPress.org users as translation editors for their respective locales:
Could you please also add myself (@socialdude) as a translator editor for all languages?
If you have any questions, just comment here. Thank you!
Hi @socialdude,
By #fr do you mean fr_FR, fr_CA or fr_BE and for #fa is it fa_AF or fa_IR?
Regarding your question, here’s the answer: https://make.wordpress.org/meta/handbook/documentation/translations/#im-a-plugin-author-how-do-i-become-a-project-translation-editor-for-my-plugin
Thank you!
Ok cool, thank you for the clarification
Can we add the French translators to all French-locales, is that possible (and the same for the Persion one)?
Another translator just came in: Could you please add @sofyand as a translation editor for Indonesian (id) also?
el added @calci
Thank you Athanasiadis!
@socialdude regarding your other request, once editors are added they can import PO files to their respective locale. I think the #meta-i18n channel on Slack is more appropiate for that type of question/request, regarding imports of existing translations.
@deconf Thank you Alin, I posted this request on #meta-i18n but was pointed here http://screencast.com/t/OcNY7NWu. But in any case, I got my answer, so I’ll ask the translators to try it. Thank you 🙂
@chris_dev Thanks Chris!
Hi there,
I’d like to be added as Translation Editor for Italian for the plugin Post Pay Counter https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-pay-counter/. My username is Ste_95.

Hello Polyglots!
I am the plugin author for Addurilka – https://wordpress.org/plugins/addurilka/ & Simple Q&A – https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-qa/. I would like to be added as the Russian Translator Editor. Please add me for the respective locale:
Addurilka – https://wordpress.org/plugins/addurilka/
Simple Q&A – https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-qa/

Hi @jon4god, if you need to add more PTEs for the above plugins, please leave a reply here instead of creating a new request.
Thank you!
