U.S. Forces Korea statement on attack-reconnaissance squadron
YONGSAN GARRISON, Seoul, Republic of Korea – Gen. James D. Thurman, commander, United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, U.S. Forces Korea, in his speech to the Association of the Republic of Korea Army in June 2012 said, “In order to enhance war-fighting capabilities I have asked for prioritization to receive an additional attack-reconnaissance squadron to bring our Combat Aviation Brigade to full strength.”
General Thurman also testified on this subject at the House Armed Services Committee in March 2012.
As of today, the U.S. Army has not announced any decision to fulfill this request.
대한민국, 서울, 용산기지 - 유엔사/연합사/주한미군 사령관 제임스 D. 서먼 (James D. Thurman) 대장은 지난해 6월 육군협회 주최 강연에서, “주한미군 전투항공여단의 전투력 증강 및 극대화을 위하여 공격 및 정찰 헬기 대대를 전투항공여단에 추가 배치하는 것을 최우선 순위에 두고 있다”라고 말한적이 있습니다.
서먼 사령관은 또한 지난 2012년 3월에도 헬기 대대 증강에 관해 미 하원 군사위원회에서 증언한 바도 있습니다.
오늘 현재까지 미 육군은 위 헬기 대대 증강 요청 이행에 대한 어떠한 결정사항도 발표하지 않았습니다.
