Teen drivers remain one of Ohio’s most at risk groups when it comes to becoming involved in a traffic crash. From 2009-2011, teen drivers were at fault in 114,737 traffic crashes, resulting in 50,492 injuries and 329 deaths on Ohio’s roadways. Teen drivers were at fault in 10% of all fatal crashes during the same time period. While crash causes may vary, speed-related circumstances accounted for more than half (56%) of crashes caused by teen drivers. That is why it is important for teen drivers and their parents to be aware of the dangers new drivers face and for these new drivers to make safe and responsible decisions while driving more

Troopers seize marijuana-laced lollipops and cookies in Auglaize County traffic stop

Two men and one woman are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized marijuana-laced lollipops and cookies, crack cocaine and prescription pills, worth an estimated $8,000, following a traffic stop in Auglaize County. Troopers stopped a rented 2012 Nissan Murano, with Georgia registration, for a speed violation on Interstate 75, southbound, near milepost 114, at 11:11 p.m. on October 14. While speaking with the driver, troopers detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. Troopers seize $17,000 worth of Ecstasy and apprehend wanted felon during Hancock County traffic stop

A Cincinnati man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized nearly 1,000 Ecstasy tablets, worth approximately $17,000, following a traffic stop in Hancock County. Troopers stopped a 2012 Dodge Caliber for a traffic violation on Interstate 75 near milepost 160, at 12:28 a.m. on October 13. Troopers observed criminal indicators and were provided fraudulent identification from the driver. The driver was also found to have outstanding felony warrants for trafficking in marijuana and money laundering. Troopers stopped a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, with Michigan registration, on Interstate 75, northbound, near milepost 19 in Butler County for a speed violation on October 13 at 9:57 p.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers observed the passengers throwing contraband from the vehicle. Troopers also detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 239 prescription pills in the vehicle and alongside the road. In addition, troopers located marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver, Walter E. Bruder, 68, and passengers, Jason A. Morgan, 34, and David J. Rachor, 64, all of Flint, Mich., were incarcerated in the Butler County Jail. They were charged with felony possession of Schedule II and III drugs. In addition, Morgan and Rachor were charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

Crack Cocaine, baggies

Two Detroit men are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized an estimated $3,500 worth of crack cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike in Lorain County. Troopers stopped a 2011 Chevy Aveo, with New Jersey registration, for a marked lanes violation on the Ohio Turnpike, eastbound, near milepost 135, at 4:38 p.m. yesterday. Troopers detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed an ounce of crack cocaine, 10 Vicodin tablets, and 11 grams of marijuana.

Hydroponic Marijuana

 

A Columbus man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized half a pound of hydroponic marijuana, worth approximately $5,000, following a traffic stop in Hancock County. Troopers stopped a 2012 Ford Fusion for a turn signal violation on Interstate 75 and US Route 68, at 2:20 a.m. on September 27. Troopers observed criminal indicators and a Hancock County drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the marijuana located in the vehicle’s trunk, concealed inside of a light fixture box.

Codeine

An Ohio man and woman are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized seven bottles of liquid Codeine, worth an estimated $5,000, following a traffic stop in Hancock County. Troopers stopped a 2012 Mitsubishi Galant, with Ohio registration, for following too close and marked lanes violations on Interstate 75 near milepost 157 in Hancock County, at approximately 12:34 a.m. on September 22. A probable cause search revealed approximately 2,330 milliliters of liquid Codeine and a small amount of marijuana located in the passenger compartment.

A Salem man is facing felony charges after the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Cortland, Goshen Township and Salem Police Departments and investigators from the National Insurance Crime Bureau served two search warrants on September 20 and 21. A Columbus man and an Atlanta, Ga. woman are in federal custody after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 1.5 kilos of cocaine, worth more than $120,000, and a handgun following a traffic stop on Interstate 70 in Madison County. Troopers stopped a 2012 Ford Escape, with Louisiana registration, for a speed violation on Interstate 70 near milepost 72, at 7:04 a.m. on September 20. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the 1.5 kilos of cocaine and a Smith and Wesson .380 handgun hidden in a natural void in the vehicle’s dashboard.
