Senator: GOP operatives orchestrated Florida voting changes

Democracy is failure - this is a Republic. The difference between a Republic and a Democracy is that minorities have rights in a Republic that protect them from majority rule.

3.5 -4.5 hour wait is a deterrent to voting. Many people cannot physically stand in line that long, let alone relinquish their other obligations to do so. The people did not add those amendments, the GOP controlled legislature did. Are you simple, son? And yes, I did vote.

I thought there was something that said you had to live at a current address for at least two years before you would be allowed to vote?

Didn't they say on the news that provisional ballots are NOT counted. They only pass them out so people feel better, but they are not counted.

I am so proud of my Senator Bill Nelson. I happen to agree with the way he votes about 80% of the time and I am just so glad that he represents us.

Not true! Everything depends on what part of the state, what county, what location, etc. It's been filmed and documented what a horrible mess was created and the number of hours that many had to wait and wait and wait!

I think some are missing the point here. The issue is the intention behind changing the law was to make it harder for those who were likely to vote Democratic in 2011 to vote. That's called voter suppression. Whether you're a Democrat or Republican, you should be outraged by these efforts. Thank you Senator Nelson for bringing this important issue to the attention of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

Senator Nelson, your a nice guy but there is not a conspiracy here....there are voters conspiring to vote 2 or 3 plus times that belong to the Democratic Party. Also voters that are not legally registered to vote and most are democrats! It's up to the individual voter to get properly registered and to make an effort to cast their vote. Purging the voter registration to make sure all voters are legal is a good thing senator!...This is more than a GOP problem!...
